How to verify SSD or RAM authenticity after installation
After a DIY upgrade, it's worth making sure that the system actually recognizes the stated specifications of the new component.
Why verify after installation
Sometimes a new component is installed incorrectly (not fully inserted into the slot) or is incompatible with the motherboard, and the system either doesn't see it at all or only sees a portion of the stated capacity.
How to check RAM
Task Manager → Performance → Memory will show the total capacity and the number of occupied slots. If the reading is less than expected, the module might not be fully inserted or could be incompatible.
How to check SSD
Disk Management (Win+X) or third-party utilities from the drive manufacturer will show the actual detected capacity and the basic status of the disk.
What to do if the readings don't match the stated specifications
First, check the physical installation (module fully in the slot, latches secured). If the problem persists, you might need a consultation regarding the compatibility of the specific component with your model.
If the upgrade was performed by Lapto.de service
We verify the correct recognition of the new component by the system immediately after installation as part of the service — more details in a separate article about SSD upgrades.
